Lecture Summary

This talk provides an overview of the key management strategies for the patient presenting to the Emergency Department with chest wall trauma. Strategies covered include imaging, risk stratification, analgesia, surgical stabilisation and respiratory and physiotherapy interventions. A brief overview of current research is provided. A case study is used to work through the clinical implications of each management strategy, in line with the latest available research. Future developments in the field of chest trauma management is briefly presented and a list of key resources and references provided.
