Lecture Summary

In this talk we will run through various end-of-life clinical scenarios with each one being a learning point for an aspect of end-of-life care and organ donation. The potential for donation is much greater than most clinicians realise. The goalposts are continually advancing and it is important to update yourself as to what is possible. The interaction at the end-of-life between the patient's clinical situation, a grieving family and the medico-legal system often feel daunting and overwhelming for clinicians. By covering various situations from identifying potential donors, triggers for referral to understanding the interplay between the declaration of death and the consent and and donation process we hope this talk will empower you to support donation in as many situations as possible in the best way possible.
