Care at the end-of-life requires an increase in intensity of the care delivered and a shift in the focus of care towards quality of life. High quality end of life care requires attention to the physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and existential needs of the patient and loved ones. Nurses are responsible for identifying distressing symptoms promptly and providing evidence-based relief. Advocacy approaches are needed to increase assess to essential pain relief medications to resource limited areas.
