Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome (MODS) is a life-threatening complication of critical illness with increasing incidence and a leading cause of morbidity in ICU-survivors. In this talk we will explore MODS giving details about its complex and multifactorial pathophysiology, clinical expression, and management as well as the role that nursing care can potentially play. Scoring systems for determining dysfunction of multiple organ systems and the possible connection between MODS and COVID-19 will also be presented.
