Lecture Summary

This presentation discusses the use of prehabilitation in chemotherapy patients and how it can improve the patients’ experience. Person based, tailored prehabilitation interventions in this patient’s group can lead to a reduction in treatment morbidities, reduction in hospital length of stay and CCU visit, improved patient experience and well being and reduction in any post operative complications. The presentation also advocates the use of the continuum of care where prehabilitation (before commencement of treatment) works alongside effective rehabilitation (after commencement of treatment) to protect patients while addressing any impairments caused by earlier treatment. Following on from this the presentation then discusses the implementation of tailored, patient based prehabilitation using an interdisciplinary framework.
