Toxidromes provide a clue to the cause of the poisoning and the severity of the symptoms can provide a clue to the severity of the poisoning. Toxidromes of importance are: anti-cholinergic, cholinergic, sedative-hypnotics, sympathomimetic, opioid, withdrawal from ethanol or sedative-hypnotics, and opioid withdrawal.
