Barbara Haas

Assistant Professor and Scientist, Department of Surgery, University of Toronto

Dr. Barbara Haas is a graduate of the General Surgery residency program of the University of Toronto. During her residency, Dr. Haas also obtained a PhD focused on trauma health services research. Following her residency, Dr. Haas completed a fellowship in Adult Critical Care Medicine at the University of Toronto, as well as a fellowship in Trauma Surgery at the John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, Illinois. In addition to her position as Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, Dr. Haas is a Scientist at the Sunnybrook Research Institute, and an Adjunct Scientist at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES).

Dr. Haas' research program focuses on trauma and emergency surgery in the elderly. Her work aims to optimize long-term outcomes in this patient population, as well as to improve inter-speciality communication regarding these complex patients.
