Danny McAuley

Professor of Intensive Care Medicine, Queen’s University of Belfast

Dr. Danny McAuley is Professor and Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine at the Royal Victoria Hospital and Queen’s University of Belfast. Since 2019 he is Director of the NIHR Efficacy and Mechanism Evaluation (EME) Programme and is a member of the NIHR Strategy Board. He undertook his training in Belfast, Birmingham, London and San Francisco.

Prof. McAuley is Co-Director of Research for the UK Intensive Care Society. A key aim of his research work is to translate early research findings to improve patient outcomes. His major interest is in Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). His other current research interests include nosocomial infections, sepsis diagnostics, delirium in critical illness and interventions to enhance recovery from critical illness.
