Lai Heng Foong

Senior Emergency Physician in Sydney, Australia

Dr Foong is a Senior Emergency Physician based in Sydney who has a passion for Public Health and Disaster preparedness, Climate Change and Health, Indigenous Health and the social determinants of health. Before she studied medicine, she completed a Masters in public health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.A.  She has worked for Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) and American Red Cross and taught Emergency Medicine courses in Cuba, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Pakistan.  She is currently the Chair of the Public Health and Disaster Committee of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM). She is a member of the Multi College Climate Change and Health Project of the Royal Australasian College for Physicians (RACP).  She is the Clinical lead of the NSW ED Community of Practice (CoP) in Covid-19 Pandemic Response.
