Lisa Burry

Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Mount Sinai Hospital and an Assistant Professor in the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto

Dr. Lisa Burry is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Mount Sinai Hospital and an Assistant Professor in the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto.

Dr. Burry has extensive expertise in patient and drug safety in emergency, trauma and critical care environments. Her research interests focus on delirium, sedation, analgesia, and chemical and physical restraint in the critical care unit. She is a member of the Canadian Critical Care Trials Group and served on the steering committee of the SLEAP trial assessing daily sedation interruption on the duration of mechanical ventilation and ICU stay.

In 2015 Dr. Burry was named a Fellow of the International Society of Critical Care Medicine, one of only 2 Canadians to receive the designation that year. Previously she received the Baxter Award for Excellence (as co-recipient) from the Canadian Association of Critical Care Nurses and her work ranked within the top 3 of over 1400 abstracts presented at the European Society of Critical Care Medicine (as co-recipient) meeting in 2012.

Dr. Burry is a member of the editorial board for the journal Intensive Care Medicine, and she chairs the Emergency & Trauma Medicine Editorial Board for the journal Annals of Pharmacotherapy.

She is also a member of the Patient Safety Group of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and a member of the disaster management committees with the American College of Chest Physicians and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

Dr. Burry obtained her PharmD degree from the University of Toronto and has published more than 60 primary research publications in peer-reviewed journals.
