Emergency physician at Rahima Moosa Hospital, Johannesburg, South Africa

I am a Durban girl, married to an awesome Joburg guy, David.

Specialist Emergency Physician working in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Rahima Moosa Mother & Child Hospital (RMMCH) in Johannesburg, South Africa.

I am only Emergency Physician at my hospital, and am therefore effectively the clinical lead and head of the Emergency Department at RMMCH.

About 70% of the patients at the Rahima ED are children, so it primarily a Paediatric Emergency Department.

I am also a lecturer for the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of the Witwatersrand. I still do my calls at Helen Joseph Academic Hospital (the large tertiary adult hospital) up the road, to make sure that I keep up-to-date in adult Emergency Medicine + trauma.

I have a keen interest in Critical Care, Prehospital and Retrieval medicine; toxicology; point-of-care ultrasound and medical education.

I am an avid simulation enthusiast.

I am the proud parent of one fur-child, Emet, a beautiful but demanding rescue cat.

I love reading; collecting graphic novels; all things fantasy + science fiction; and chocolate.

(My qualifications are South African:

FCEM, MMED, DipPEC, DA, MBBCh
