Tim Baker is an Anesthesiologist/Intensive Care Physician and Researcher based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He is a member of faculty at Muhimbili University of Health & Allied Sciences and Ifakara Health Institute in Dar and is Associate Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in the UK and at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden.
Tim works to evaluate and improve health services and systems, focusing on the provision of good quality care to critically ill patients in low-resourced and low-staffed settings. He has developed the global concept of Essential Emergency and Critical Care and is leading several research projects and groups. Tim is a consultant for WHO and UNICEF and is founder of the NGO Life Support Foundation.
