Yahya Shehabi

Professor Shehabi, a practicing intensivist, is a Professor of Medicine at the School of Clinical Sciences, Monash University and Monash Health, Professor of Intensive Care Medicine at the Clinical School of Medicine at the University of New South Wales. Dr Shehabi is a senior clinical academic and experienced clinical trialist with an extensive track record in leading multinational large scale RCTs funded by Australian National Health & Medical Research Council. Professor Shehabi led the Sedation Practice in Intensive Care Evaluation (SPICE) research programme from concept, design, execution, and publications. In collaboration with the Canadian Critical Care Trials Group, Dr Shehabi is the Co-Lead of the BALANCE trial, Bacteraemia Antibiotic Length Actually Needed for Clinical Effectiveness. He was the chief investigator of the randomized multicentre RCT, the Pro-GUARD trial, evaluating the utility of Procalcitonin in patients with undifferentiated infections in ICU. Professor Shehabi is considered a national and international authority on sedation and delirium management.
